This week I thought it would be fun to throw it wayyyyyy way back to our very first wedding EVER.
Let me set the stage for you.
I started Hoot & Holler (now, Form Floral!) on the side of my 9-5 day job and our early weddings were designed in the kitchen of my apartment. I lived on the second floor of a walk-up in central Phoenix and the parking for my building was in an alley behind the building so every time we had an order I had to haul buckets of flowers through my entire complex from my car, up the stairs to my house, then back down again once the designs were ready to be delivered. Remembering where you came from really keeps you humble.
It was during this time that I met Sam. If we fast forward to present day, Sam is one of my dearest friends. She cheers me on when things are great and she helps to keep me afloat when things get tough. She's one of the kindest, smartest, hardest working ladies I've had the pleasure of knowing and I'm so thrilled that I got to be part of her wedding day. I've also had the great joy of getting to know Kieran who is one of the most genuinely kind people I know. He also knows how to whip up a killllller spreadsheet for just about any occasion but that's a different story for a different day. Any who - back then, we had only met once for a work project when Sam's lovely mom and sister talked her into getting flowers for her wedding day.
When Sam and I met up for her consult, she requested "twigs, branches, and no flowers". Shortly after that meeting, she emailed me to change her request to "twigs, branches, and maybe a few flowers". If you want to read all about Sam and Kieran's badass wedding weekend (I can't recommend it enough - these two spreadsheet loving planners really nailed every single detail of their big day) you can check out their feature over on Junebug Weddings. The flowers were such a small part of their day and all of the other details created an event that guests are still talking about almost four years later.
Here are some of my favorite moments from their wedding!
After four years of watching Sam and Kieran in their married life, I have a hard time articulating just how perfect these two are for each other. I love that they have become some of my closest friends and I'll forever be looking back on this sweet day and feeling overcome with emotion at all the love they had for each other on this day and the beautiful way they have grown together since then. Safe to say Samantha and Kieran are a couple that make me believe in soul mates.
